The visit to the Empreinte Sign factory was a wonderful experience and to see the two panels that we have been crafting over the last few months being made was very rewarding.
Basically the stone is cut from the Volvic Mountains and prepared with a white base. This is then screenprinted with enamel inks. The stone is then fired in an oven.
The whole process is managed efficiently and with great care and attention from everyone involved in the process. The final result is a panel that is designed to last for decades.
The steelwork is done with the same amount of care and attention to detail and as Empreinte have their own Waterjet facilities for cutting steel there are a great many design options for interpretation lecterns available.
