The Oban Bay project has been on the go for around 3 years but finally funding was put in place last year and the whole job is now complete. The project involved putting together 7 panels and we chose Enamelled Stoneware for its hardwaring and quite simply gorgeous look. These panels will be going on the railings right on the sea front - so the hazzards are sea, salt, wind, high intensity light, herring gull poo and frost. the traditional GRP approach would not last the course so thanks to our partnership with Empriente in France we have produced a set of heritage information panels of a high standard with a mix of photographic and illustration content, that are screen printed onto a robust enamelled surface.
Three of the panels are on a lectern with one using a wind-up MP3 player with Gaelic songs and poems.
We are just waiting for the installation to take place.
