Recent budget annoucements from both the HLF and other major funding bodies combined with the cultural drive for the upcoming UK hosted Olympics could suggest a revival in the availability of funding to non-commercial organisations, large and small for digitisation and provision of public access to these.

Most recent HLF funded project:
The Bentley Beetham Collection, a year long HLF funded project saw the digitisation of rare glass-plate negatives, strategy papers, maps and newspaper clippings taken by one of the members of the 1924 Everest Expedition, where Mallory and Irvine perished.
The project culminated in public distribution of the information via http://www.bentleybeetham.org
