We are looking forward to the Heritage Open Days Weekend, 13-15 September, round of visits. This year there is a little bit of a twist as we are running a series of sketch walks. The first few are done already as an example of what we are proposing. The idea is that, not only, do we get to visit some fantastic buildings but we are also exploring the history behind some of these buildings and unpacking some fantastic stories too.
Who would have thought that Robert Sinclair organised flights to deliver his pipe tobacco which was packed in the Robert Sinclair manufacturing base here in Newcastle?
The Creative Central Hub in Newcastle - meeting place for the Sketch Walks.
The walks are all sold out now but we do have an exhibition of the Figures of Tyne Chapbook project. This is part of a wider project which will culminate in a new piece of public art for the new building at Pilgrims Quarter.
The chapbooks that were created for this are a good example of what you can create as part of your sketch walk. The Hub is open for visitors to view this work so please come along and enjoy reading the stories of some of the best known and lesser well known buildings of Newcastle.
